Tenants are increasingly important to effective governance. To have effective tenant involvement at board panel forums and resident association level, it's essential that you equip your tenants with the knowledge, skills and information to participate in your organisation.

The Board Development Agency has established some ground-breaking tenant involvement development programmes, which have helped housing organisations improve their delivery of services.

Tenants Training Courses

Complaints Handling and the Localism Act 2012	This course helps ensure that you have a robust and effective complaints system in place, to ensure you to learn from mistakes by dealing with complaints proactively and using these to help organisational improvement.
Induction Training	Introduction programme for new active tenants, to let you know exactly how you can get involved and make a difference to your community.
Developing Tenant Inspectors	One day course in the benefits and practicalities of setting up tenant Inspections in your own organisation.
Monitoring Landlord Services	A half day course in understanding the importance of tenants in monitoring services and how you can play a full part in improving housing services in your community.
Dispute Resolution for Tenant Organisations Handling	We hope you will never have to think about disciplining a tenant organisation member. However are you prepared should you ever need to do so? Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Endorsed Training for Tenants

Resident Scrutiny Leadership Programme (ILM endorsed )	Help your new residents scrutiny organisation become affective fast! The programme is taught over two days and delivered in-house on request. The training will give you the following outcomes: Thorough grounding in what resident scrutiny is and how to do it effectively The governance framework for Resident Scrutiny Regulation and residents scrutiny. How it contributes to co regulation citizen focus and self assessment How to develop and lead effective residents scrutiny panels Effective procedures for good governance and scrutiny. We have had a great deal of positive feedback from this course. New Tenants Complaints Resolution and Referral Leadership	This two day training programme has been developed to help tenants become more aware of what they need to do to scrutinise their housing provider and ensure they get the service they deserve. The course will help prepare landlords and tenants for the changes made by the Localism Act 2011 and to help make co regulation effective. Attendees will learn how tenant consultation, involvement and scrutiny, and complaints settlement link to each other and are important parts of the new Co Regulation Governance model, which empowers tenants to make accountability real. The Tenants Panel Complaints Resolution and Referral Leadership Programme is a vocational award, which aims to give Tenants Panel members, and staff who support the Tenants Panel, a firm foundation in creating, leading and running an effective Tenants Panel as part of an effective complaint resolution process.
Community Leadership Residents into Governance Programme (ILM endorsed)	This course will help prepare tenants and residents for involvement with their social housing provider's board. It is an Institute of Leadership and Management endorsed award, with duration of three to four sessions. See Coaching and Mentoring
The Local Authority Tenant Leadership Award (ILM endorsed)	A ten module award written specifically for Local Authority Tenants in partnership with Birmingham City Council. This programme will equip you for leadership of Tenant Management Organisation. High level involvement in improving ALMO and local authority landlord services to a three star service. Duration of the course is eight morning sessions.
Equality and Diversity ILM Level 4	In this taught programme you will explore the nature and origins of personal values, beliefs, attitudes and prejudices and the impact that this can have on workplace behaviour. It will also help to develop an understanding of the participants' role and responsibility in the value of managing diversity. For more information on course content go to Equality and Diversity
