Bill is an assurance, audit and governance specialist within the social housing sector. He has almost 30 years working within the sector either within providers or for consultancies. He has carried out numerous assignments around risk management and value for money, alongside internal audit work and interim governance positions. Bill is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors and has spoken at numerous audit and housing conferences over the years. Bill is currently Chair of the Group Audit & Risk Committee at Bolton at Home, having previously served as the Audit Committee Chair at Salix Homes.
Bill has developed a specialism in the area of value for money (VFM) following many years working with HouseMark undertaking performance management and value for money reviews. In 2019, Bill undertook a review of the VFM reports and metric calculations of most of the audit clients of Beever & Struthers, providing them with useful suggestions for improvements. This resulted in Bill contributing the VFM section to Beever & Struthers’ Top 100 Review. Bill has also been involved with a number of IDAs over the recent past, which has given him a particular insight into the Regulator’s thinking around VFM.
