Whistleblowing is now more than just an HR process for Boards and executives. As the UK social housing sector moves into a new phase of proactive regulation, it has become a key governance issue. There is now a strong focus on whistleblowing, transparency, and organisational culture.
This session covers the legal protections for workers and the responsibilities of employers and Boards. We will also look at why ‘speak-up culture’ is now closely tied to governance ratings, tenant satisfaction, and regulatory assurance.
What you will learn
Understanding Whistleblowing: Learn what constitutes a protected disclosure under the Public Interest Disclosure Act (PIDA) and how whistleblowing differs from grievances and complaints.
The Board’s Role in Governance and Oversight: Learn why Boards need to have strong whistleblowing systems, offer independent oversight, and make sure concerns are managed properly and fairly.
Creating a Speak-Up Culture: See how social housing providers can go beyond just meeting rules to build a culture where employees, tenants, contractors, and stakeholders feel safe to speak up.
Finally, we will discuss how Boards can build safe, transparent, and accountable organisations where staff and tenants feel comfortable raising concerns.
