This sector tailored training programme is perfect for those with some experience who want to fine-tune their abilities. Join us to enhance your skills and expertise in creating accurate, impactful and consistent minutes.
We will begin by covering the basic skills and reasons behind recording minutes. Then, we will focus on developing the skills and knowledge required to produce useful notes and quality minutes in various circumstances. The goal is to help participants understand their duties and responsibilities in minute taking and them by creating accurate minutes. We will also discuss how you will tailor your minutes to your audience, plain English and readbility and give you hints and tips. For those in England we will also consider changes brought about by new Consumer Standards regulations.

- Skills needed for good note-taking, preparation, listening, and how you take notes;
- Understanding the types of things discussed;
- What can and can’t be changed;
- How to work effectively with the Chair and other key stakeholders;
- Turning notes into effective minutes, readability – hints and tips;
- Steps for complicated minutes and “telling the story”;
- Diplomacy and alternative key words;
- Minute writing conventions and your template, with examples;
- What other technology can help you – understand the benefits and drawbacks;
- The balance of meeting everyone’s needs and brevity – how to summarise;
- Recording discussions and decisions;
- Checking for accuracy;
- How to cascade outcomes to the relevant people and follow tasks;
- Time to practice the skills you are learning and to ask questions.
Additional Information
This training will be provided online using Zoom over three sessions of two hours each, making it the equivalent of more than a half-day session. Each session will be recorded and made available on our website for you to review again at your convenience.
The cost of this training is £575 + VAT.
Two additional hours of assistance, which include a review of the minutes, support, and feedback on taking notes and minutes, can be offered for an additional £150 + VAT.
