Scotland’s social housing sector is undergoing significant regulatory changes. This session provides an overview of the governance framework for Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), including the Scottish Government’s regulatory requirements, key guidance, and the Scottish Housing Regulator’s role in promoting good governance and accountability.
You will learn about the Code of Conduct required for all governing body members and the core principles of good governance that underpin effective decision-making, risk management, and organisational assurance.
We will look at the latest regulatory changes and their implications for governing bodies in the coming year. This includes Scotland’s new damp and mould legislation, which introduces legal deadlines for investigating reports, communicating findings to tenants and initiating repairs. We will discuss the governance responsibilities these duties create, including board oversight, assurance, compliance, contractor capacity and record-keeping.
