Housing association Boards are currently facing a growing governance gap as AI is adopted faster than the structures needed to oversee it safely, introducing challenges around regulatory compliance, guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office, and emerging standards such as the EU AI Act.
This session provides you, as Board Members, with an understanding of the core pillars of AI governance, purpose control, data quality, transparency, human oversight and risk management and how they apply directly to housing associations.
What you will learn
We will outline key decisions Boards must make, highlight specific organisational risks introduced by AI, and detail assurance mechanisms to protect residents and the organisation. By session end, Board members will identify AI opportunities and required governance structures for safe, ethical, and compliant implementation.
- Understand the core pillars of AI governance, purpose control, data quality, transparency, human oversight, and risk management and how these apply directly to housing associations.
- Identify the organisational risks AI introduces, including regulatory, ethical, operational, and resident‑impact risks, and understand what assurance they should expect from the Executive.
