Equality, Diversity & Inclusion – Part One

Equality, diversity and inclusion are important concepts for any service provider & employer in the 21st century. Getting these principles right offers your organisation the potential to maximise service-user, stakeholder and employee satisfaction. Getting them wrong may mean you are in breach of legal duties and responsibilities and opens you up to potential discrimination complaints.

These sessions will give your board a good understanding of the regulatory framework including the Equality Act 2010 (EA 2010),  the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), where relevant and other relevant regulations.

We will examine each of the 9 protected characteristics under the EA2010 and the law as it relates to them as well as the proactive and positive steps you must take to fulfil the relevant parts of the PSED .

In part one of these webinars (second part next week) will look at what is meant by the nine protected characteristics. Each characteristic will be examined in detail including where those characteristics may be treated differently from each other as well as each within the context of discrimination and harassment.

Overall, these training sessions will give you a good grounding in what Housing Associations must do to demonstrate equality and diversity in England Scotland and Wales and what the NHF Code of governance and UK Code of Corporate Governance says about  the importance of culture, integrity, equality and diversity.
