The Monitoring Role of The Board

The Monitoring Role of The Board – 13 January 2022

The board is responsible for the organisation’s operational, strategic, and financial performance, as well as its conduct.

Performance monitoring is a means to an end, never an end in itself. The purpose of the excerise is to promote action and the goal is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of performance. It also helps keep performance on the right track.

The webinar will consider:

  • The principles of financial and business reporting and monitoring – what is the role of the board and what is the responsibility of managers and the Executive?
  • The characteristics of good performance information – how does it lead directors to ask the right questions and agree on action to improve performance?
  • The elements of an effective monitoring and evaluation plan – what will you measure? What will you evaluate? How will you do it?  Based on what? What will you do as a result?
