With the growing emphasis on Board assurance concerning risk and control, Audit Committees have become an integral part of governance within housing associations. This webinar is designed for new Board Members in housing associations operating across Scotland, Wales, and England, as part of their introductory program, as well as any staff members looking to deepen their understanding of audit functions.
We will provide knowledge to help you navigate audits and improve governance in your housing association. By the end of the session, participants will receive practical insights to maximise audit effectiveness, followed by a general discussion of questions and concerns about auditors.
What you will learn
We will provide an overview of the audit process, focusing on the key functions of internal and external audits, the two primary forms of audits that Board Members typically encounter, and explore the distinct roles and responsibilities of both, highlighting the differences between them.
Review the key responsibilities of audit committees, how they fit within the overall governance framework, and what outputs they are expected to deliver.
You will also hear personal insights from an experienced Audit Committee Chair on key topics, including committee membership, its remit, and the role the Audit Committee plays in ensuring regulatory compliance.
