Regulating the Consumer Standards. What do Boards need to know and how should they prepare?

In this session, specifically designed for English Housing Providers, we will consider what the Board need to know to be prepared for the new Consumer Standards and Regulatory Inspections regime (formerly In-Depth Assessments (IDAs), implemented by the Regulator of Social Housing. We will look at how the Consumer Standards have changed and discuss the information gleaned from the trial inspections.  We will also consider the changing complaints handling environment and how these two areas are interlinked and how each will reinforce good practice.

What you will learn

We will examine the key points Board members need to consider in their thought processes going forward in light of the changing standards and the Regulator’s suggested methods for inspection. We will discuss the areas and steps your Board should be prioritising. Although the precise regulatory approach after April 2024 is still being developed, the Regulator has provided sufficient guidance for providers to know what to expect.

We will look at:

  • The new Standards, what has changed and where your priorities should be focused.
  • Clarity on regulatory inspections and their significance.
  • Insights into the evolving landscape of Consumer Standards regulation.
  • Practical tips for navigating the regulatory environment effectively.
  • Insight into how improved complaints handling can help you implement the new standards.
